Yakima Today Announced it will become a Gold Level Sponsor for the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC)

BEAVERTON, Ore. (February 20, 2007) – Yakima, a leading innovator in vehicle rack solutions for boats, bikes, winter sports gear, home storage and cargo options, today announced it will become a gold level sponsor for the Outdoor Industries Women’s Coalition (OIWC), a non-profit association organized for the purpose of equipping women to reach their professional success in the outdoor industries through educational programming, networking and mentoring. Through this year-long sponsorship agreement, Yakima will not only support the recognition and influence of women in the outdoors, but also, will continue to provide support and professional development for women within the company.

“The OIWC sponsorship was driven by our support for organizations that offer viable programs and education for women in the industry,” said Cherie Appleby-Lannan, director of customer service for Yakima.

The OIWC is an important organization that provides opportunities to advance women within the outdoor industry. Through educational, networking, mentoring and award/recognition programs, the OIWC presents a forum for views and interests of passionate women of the outdoors. Each year, OIWC organizes events at all of the major industry trade shows in which Yakima will participate including Summer and Winter Outdoor Retailer, SIA and Interbike.
