Q: Can I put a SuperJoe Pro on my hatchback, Van or SUV?
A: The SuperJoe Pros geometry is not optimized for hatchbacks, vans or SUV’s but it will fit some. Check the fit guide on www.yakima.com to see if your hatchback, Van or SUV will fit a SuperJoe Pro. If your vehicle is not listed, it’s also a good idea to go to your local Yakima Dealer and see if you can try one out before you buy.
Q: What if my car is not on the fit list included with my rack?
A: If you do not find your car in the list, visit www.yakima.com/measurements or call 888-925-4621 in the US and Canada. We may have the measurements and notes for your vehicle. You can also refer to the instructions which provides general fit information to help mount the rack to your vehicle. The best option is to go to your local Yakima Dealer and see if you can try one out before you buy.
Q: Will a SuperJoe Pro clear my spoiler?
A: Most Likely. If you are fitting a SuperJoe Pro to a car that is not on the fit list and has a spoiler it will very likely work. To make sure, it’s a good idea to go to your local Yakima Dealer and see if you can try one out before you buy.
Q: What is the difference between the KingJoe Pro and SuperJoe Pro?
A: The upper arm assembly on the KingJoe is independently adjustable making it more ideal for hatchbacks, vans and SUV’s
Q: Are replacement parts available for my SuperJoe Pro?
A: Yes. Go to www.yakima.com and look up your SuperJoe Pro in the “Products” section. Available replacement parts are listed on the product page.
Q: What should I do if my bike has a funky or non standard frame design?
A: Make like it’s the 80’s and get a TubeTop. TubeTop is a proxy top tube that quickly and easily attaches to your bike. TubeTop takes away the difficulty and inherent hazards of mounting a bike without a top tube or one with a funky frame design.
Q: is there any maintenance I should perform?
A: Yes. With every use, check for tearing or fraying of the nylon straps that hold the rack to you vehicle and replace as necessary. The rubber straps that hold the bike to the rack should also be checked with every use for any tears or cracking and should be replaced as necessary.
Q: Can I leave a SuperJoe Pro on my car and be sure that it will be reasonably safe from theft?
A: Yes, with the key words being “reasonably safe”. All SuperJoe Pros come with a glass hatch hook for a good measure of passive security.
Q: What is a glass hatch hook?
A: The glass hatch hook is a steel cable reinforced nylon strap that uses a locked trunk or glass hatch to secure your rack.
Q: Will the straps damage the finish on my car?
A: When properly installed your Yakima rack should not damage any part of you car. Proper installation starts with a clean car. If you have a dirty car, that dirt can get trapped under the attachment points and ruin the cars finish. Make sure your car is clear every time you install your rack
Q: What is the difference between the SuperJoe Pro and SuperJoe?
A: Functionally, the SuperJoe Pro has easier-to-use adjustments, more secure bike cradles and a slightly different arm design to better accommodate a wider variety of vehicles
