This saddle secures kayaks hull-side-down and fits many plastic kayak shapes.
* Not recommended for composite boats (Makos, Hullys and HullRaisers are recommended for this because they have a padded surface that will not scratch composite hulls).
*Boats slide easily into saddles, which grip the hull for safe travel.
*Saddles can be spaced apart to conform to different hull-shapes.

Q: When should I use a Bow/Stern Tie Down?
A: Every time! It is essential to tie a boat's ends to the ends of the vehicle to stabilize a boat again the hurricane force winds created by traveling at highway speed. While any non-elastic tie down that is strong enough can be used, a Bow/Stern Tiedown makes the job easy and takes good care of the car.
Q: What type of boat will the LandShark Saddles carry?
A: Landshark Saddles are intended for any kayak with a rigid hull. They are not recommended for any boat type other than plastic as they could cause damage. For composite boats, we recommend Mako Saddles.
Q: Can I use LandShark Saddles on my car?
A: Load capacity varies by vehicle. Look in the Fit List to see what accessories can be used on your vehicle. If "kayaks" are on the list, then Landshark Saddles are appropriate.
Q: How should I position the saddles?
A: Start by loosening the saddles and moving them so they are near the edge of the boat and the boat is centered. The saddles can pivot front to back and you want to position them so they are contacting the boat hull as much as possible. Then retighten the saddles to the crossbars. See instructions for more information.
Q: How should I strap down the boat?
A: The boat should be strapped down around the crossbars, not through the LandShark Saddles. You must also strap the boat inside the tower rather than going outside of the tower. See instructions for more information.
