After buying a big fishing kayak (WS Atak 140, around 85 lbs) I realized that loading that beast on top of my minivan was going to be impossible alone. Even with my wife helping, it was an adventure; and she normally doesn't come fishing or hunting with me. So I started looking a trailers... Then I remembered seeing this and decided to give it a try. Found one at my local dealer, installed it (which can be tricky if you have old bar with rust inside!) and once I figured out a good technique I was able to load alone. When someone tries to help now, they normally get in the way... So I just tell them to "spot" in case the kayak slip, which it never does. So for a fraction of the price that a trailer would have cost, I can carry my kayak and load it unassisted.

I have always said that when the time comes that I can't load my kayak by myself, it's time to quit paddling. I was afraid that the time had almost come until I found the boat loader. It's a bit pricey for what it is but the quality is great and it works. It installs in a couple of minutes and takes the place of another person to help you in the parking lot. Great idea.
