Review by Brent Posted on January 21, 2019I was really excited to get this since it was my first platform bike rack. I just went back to a SUV from a Truck so I need a new rack to get to the trail heads. The rack was packed well and easy to assembly. Especially if you use a socket ratchet! I taken it out twice sense receiving it and happy with the over all performance. The bike don't rock at all, solid fit.
Recommendations to Yakima for the Holdup EVO:
-Increase the adjustment spacing to seat post if you carry two XC bikes similar size and saddle height to keep from rubbing.
-Use a standard size bolt/nuts on the carrier arms so standard tools can be used it wasn't an 10mm or 11mm it wasn't 9/16" or 5/8". I ended up using an 11mm and just being careful not to round off the edges.
Review by FFEMTP Posted on October 16, 2018I spent literally several months trying to figure out which rack I wanted to purchase. I did not go wrong with this one! It is certainly heavy duty. It is slightly heavier than I anticipated, but that disadvantage offers only more strength and resiliency. I purchased the 2" to be used on two ve...read morehicles. One vehicle sits low to the ground. The rack is designed (fortunately) with a foot in place in case of accidental drag. The rack has certainly stood up to multiple draggings. My biggest concern was security. The design of the receiver lock is ingenious! The included pin is apparently just to help you ensure the rack is sufficiently deep enough in the receiver. It is not designed to keep the rack in place. I would highly recommend it!
Review by Nicholas Posted on August 31, 2018Was on the fence to get this or the SingleSpeed. Went with the HoldUp Evo to have the option to take two bikes. I’m glad I did because I’ve been on multiple trips with someone else. Used it on a 450+ mile round trip and the rack didn’t budge an inch and kept both mountain bikes secure. The qua...read morelity of the the rack is great. The rack is very easy to put together and very easy to use. The only downfall I see with the rack is it is on the heavier side. I suggest storing it close to where you don’t have to walk or lug it a good distance. But the weight is due to the sturdiness and quality. Glad I went with this rack!
Review by John Posted on July 13, 2018Solid rack, versatile, heavy duty and very happy with my purchase! The speed knob makes a the rack really snug in the hitch with no movement. Did have to re-tighten a few hundred miles down the road.

So far I haven't seen a better bike hitch rack. Good job Yakima!
Review by Courtney Posted on July 11, 2018I bought this trailer hitch rack specifically for a trip I was planning. I have used both a roof mount single bike rack and the hatchback strap on nightmare. The roof mount is fine so long as you don't try to go into your garage. The other is a nightmare.
I was keen to get a hitch rack that u...read moresed the swing arm secures and trays for the wheels over the arms that you hang a frame on. I mostly ride squishy mountain bikes and they don't hang well on anything.
I was super impressed with the Evo's drop capability giving me access to the hatch back. unfortunately, my new car has an automated opening lift gate when the keyholder is present. trying to drop the bike hitch in time was annoying, but i got used to unlocking the car before standing behind for the 3 seconds.
Bikes are secure. Yesterday, i rode with a bad tire that deflated on the way up (this is a no-no). Bike stayed on and in the tray securely despite user error.
THe integrated locks are not going to withstand cutters. but they do give you piece of mind when going into the grocery store or gas station. I tend to back them up with a u-lock just to give would-be thieves pause.
My only complaint is that the tilt switch is inconvenient. get into a crouch and pull it to tilt bikes down. And use force to raise bikes back up. My wife still can't figure the procedure out.
Best rack. Ever.
Review by ryan Posted on June 30, 2018Very easy set up and user friendly. Watched a YouTube video and had it set up within 20 mins. Highly recommend - well worth the money. I like that you can lock the hitch and bikes. Perfect for fat tires!
Love this product
