I am nearing 70 in several months and found this product to be very easy to assemble on the hitch of my Volvo. It is perfect in all respects. I do, however, recommend a longer zip strip as my wife's bike has the seat all the way down and it is difficult to get the zip strip below it. A longer zip strip would allow me to fasten it on top of the seat.
Great Rack! Easy to install, holds all 4 bike with ease

I purchased this rack, for ease of installation and ability to hold our bikes securely and safely. It is a breeze to attach to our trailer hitch, and holds all 4 MTB's with ease. It is very secure, even when driving off-road and keeps the bikes away from the vehicle to avoid any contact. This should be an accessory for all Land Rover bike owners, because trying to lug heavy MTB's not the roof is painful.. Loading them on the Ridgeback 4 is almost effortless! Oh.. and the bottle opener attachment is a nice touch when camping, we always tend to forget our handheld one! Ridgeback to the rescue.
Great design, versatility and design Yakima... Thank you!

Once I figured the adapter for the 1/1/4 " hitch, it is great. Nice addition to my Suby! With smaller frame bikes (kids), it can be tough to get 4 bikes loaded.
Did not fit Subaru 1 1/4" receiver

Rack seems to be well made. Heavy and Sturdy. Unfortunately, the rack will not work with the dealer installed receiver on our 2015 Subaru Crosstrek. Searching for an adapter or returning.
All around great rack

Pros: Decent price. High quality feel. Sturdy. Secures bikes well. Little to no sway. Easy to install or leave on the vehicle and still access the hatch quickly. Looks sharp.
Cons: Some bikes will require you to buy a "Tube Top Adapter" $40. No bike lock included, "Handcuff lock" $30.
This rack was easy to install in my 2" hitch on my 2014 Durango. Even though I accidentally unscrewed the bolt out of the expanding device that helps secure the rack in the hitch, it still took me less than 5 minutes to install. The rack feels very secure and does not sway or rattle much even on bumpy paved roads. The controls for stowing the arms and lowering the rack for trunk access are sturdy and easy to use. With the rack down, there is plenty of room to get into the hatch on my Durango. Some people were complaining that the rack is heavy. It feels like quality to me, and really is a non-issue with this rack.
My Raleigh Talus 4.0 bike has not fit well with other bikes on any of the 3 hitch racks I have used before and the Ridgeback 4 was no exception. It took quite a bit of maneuvering in order to get it to sit next to another bike on the rack which was a bummer but par for the course for this particular bike. That being said, the spacing between the slots is better than the other 3 I have used and I was easily able to put some of our other bikes next to each other without issue. I did have to buy a Tube Top adapter in order to fit my new full suspension '29er but it works well and feels secure.
The zip strip method of securing the bikes provides a secure fit and is quick/easy to use. Only downside is having to store them somewhere in your vehicle if you don't want to leave them on the rack all the time for theft potential. I would like to see Yakima include the Handcuff bike locking mechanism ($30) with this rack though it looks like an easy install if I buy it later.
This rack has it's own built in system to "lock" the rack into your vehicles hitch. It seems that with enough force, albeit a lot, that the rack could be pulled out of the hitch even when "locked". I would prefer to be able to use a locking hitch pin in addition to Yakima's mechanism.

I have a stump jumper from Specialized with a non-standard frame. The mounting pads are fixed by a screw on the bottom side. I removed that screw on one pad on one side (the side without the stabilizer) only to allow the mounting pad to rotate and it was a success. The straps hold the weird frame firmly without issues. I just got it today and it is firm, tall, easy to mount, easy to tilt and fold. The removable straps are way stronger than the rubber ones. The weight is around the same as comparable high end racks. The mechanism to tighten and lock securely to the hitch works very well. I will see about durability but I will be taking it off and on more than my old bike rack just because its easy.
Super sturdy, easy to use

We bought this for our MB GLK250 with the trailer hitch (1 1/4). We've used it with 2 bikes at a time so far for long trips (400 miles each way). It was very secure and stable even with two mountain bikes. I've also used it for two lightweight road bikes (carbon fiber) and of course it works great for that too. It locks on the hitch. Folds down easily when no bikes are on it. And can tilt down for access to the hatch. Highly recommended!
Awesome rack, zipstrips are great

Got this for mountain biking, and it works well. So far the most bikes I've loaded onto this is two, so not sure how well it works loading three or four bikes on it.
The hitch is fairly light and easy to remove, so I do so quite often to make things less tight in the garage. It sticks out further from the hitch than I expected, but isn't necessarily a bad thing since it keeps bikes further from vehicle to prevent scratches.
The zip strips make loading easy and extremely quick, and the anti-sway brackets work well to minimize movement of bikes on the rack.
One thing I wish yakima had as an option/accessory: longer zip strips for bikes with oblong frame tubes. The yakima tube top accessory can work to get around this, but is more expensive and adds time to the process of strapping the bikes on and off.
All in all a very nice rack and feels solid.

We bought this product as an adjunct to our outdoor expeditions. We usually camp with our 21 ft camper and mainly use it as a base camp, during our excursions. As you can imagine packing for two kids (6+8), wife, and dog, you can run out of space. The Ridgeback gave us the space we needed to put our bikes on the outside rather in the trailer. Its working out great and can't wait till summer hits when it will be getting more use.
