Some Zip Strips Good..., Some Not
Review by Nicholas Posted on June 15, 2020I have had my Yakima rack for two years, it is a 4 bike model. Attaching bikes to the rack is so much simpler with these strips than my predecessor rack..., but several of the strips fell apart, basically de-laminated with little use, maybe three trips over the first year. It was summer, so I can'...read moret say intense cold could have made them more brittle. Clearly it was a manufacturing defect. About 25% of the strips were affected and had to be replaced, the others are still going strong. I would give the ongoing straps a 5-star rating for utility, design and longevity, but when one averages them with the ones that failed, I ended-up with 3-stars. I'm on the site, now, because I am going on vacation in a few weeks and think that I should purchase some spare strips as I've used up my spares. Hopefully, the manufacturing issue has been fixed. 25% fail rate is not acceptable..., but I'm locked into the product as I have already invested in the rack.
NEED LONGER STRAPS!
Review by Mike Posted on June 20, 2019Yakima, I need longer straps for my daughters bike. We had jimmy it up with a whole bunch of bungee cords today and I still don't feel safe about it!
Need longer zip strips
Review by Mark Posted on January 28, 2018The standard strip size works well for any standard adult bike frame, but as others have mentioned, the zip strips need to be about 1 or 2 inches longer on each side to accommodate adolescent bicycle frames. I've reached the internet to see if anyone else is selling longer zip straps that are comp...read moreatible with the Yakima rack, but I haven't found anything. Until Yakima begins making longer zip strips, if you have bicycles for 7 to 12 year olds you should look at other bike rack options. I am a big fan of Yakima, so I hope they fix this shortcoming soon. Just make longer zip strips!

Longer is better
Review by blllllent Posted on June 12, 2017With bike styles changing these days, it is critical to have longer zip strips. The current one's don't work for my children's bikes. Seems like an easy solve t make it a much better system.
Review by BIKE ENTHUSIAST Posted on August 25, 2016These work great for one of my bikes. The other one is a Cervelo, which requires at least 1 longer strip to secure. I wish these were made in a larger size.
Review by OldPeople Posted on April 16, 2016Really need at least two longer zip strips for bikes with seat all the way down to put the zip strip over the seat. Too difficult to get under the seat. Otherwise the zip strips would have gotten 5 stars
